The city
of San Ramon Parks & Community Services held their annual Sheep Shearing
Day event at the historic Forest Home Farms located in San Ramon, CA. The
Mount Diablo Surveyors Historical Society (MDSHS) hosted their booth and
display antique surveying equipment and maps.
The sheep got their spring “haircut” by a professional sheep shearer.Festivities included wool spinners, wood turners, woodcarvers,
quiltters and more. Other entertainment included, a kid’s craft area,
old-fashioned games, and tours of the farm.

This family-friendly event was presented by the San Ramon Historic Foundation
at the historic Forest Home Farms located in San Ramon, CA
The MOUNT DIABLO SURVEYORS
HISTORICAL SOCIETY hosted a booth and display of antique surveying equipment
and maps. Members (some in period costume) were on hand to answer questions
about surveying and surveying history.

The city
of San Ramon Parks & Community Services held their annual Sheep Shearing
Day event at the historic Forest Home Farms located in San Ramon, CA. The
Mount Diablo Surveyors Historical Society (MDSHS) hosted their booth and
display antique surveying equipment and maps.
The sheep got their spring “haircut” by professional sheep shearer, Russ
Duguid. Festivities included wool spinners, wood turners, woodcarvers,
quiltters and more. Other entertainment included, a kid’s craft area,
old-fashioned games, and tours of the farm. There was a special performance
of "Just Kidding Music" at 1:00 p.m. Entertainers, Lynn and Jill
encouraged an awareness of American folk music through the use of play party
games, old-time fiddle tunes, stories, songs and parody. The audience was
encouraged to participate by playing along with a variety of folk
instruments.
2007
Pumpkin Patch & Farmers Market at Forest Home Farms

The city
of San Ramon Parks & Community Services held a harvest festival
celebration at the historic Forest Home Farms located in San Ramon, CA The
event featured a pumpkin patch, scarecrow making contest, farm displays and
much more. The event joined the popular Farmers Market held
on consecutive Saturdays in October on the 6th, 13th, 20th and concludes on
the 27th with the results of the scarecrow contest.
The MOUNT DIABLO SURVEYORS HISTORICAL
SOCIETY hosted a booth and display of antique surveying equipment and maps on
the 20th. Members (some in period costume) were on hand to answer questions
about surveying and surveying history. An instrument was set up or the public
to view the summit of Mt. Diablo, which is the location of the Mt. Diablo
Initial Point, established in 1851 by Leander Ransom.
